Frequently Asked Questions

Create your account on the mobile app - DL from either the Google Playstore or the Appstore
Tap the gear in the top left corner and choose the "My Accounts" page
Go to your settings and select "Always On." We only sample location at 15 minute intervals, so the battery imapct is less than 1%/day. We do not keep a log of your location, or share the information with any third party
With a single tap you can let your friends, or any memebr within a specified radius, know that you are flying right now (or within the next hour). It will default to your present location if you have Location turned on, or you can add an address.
When you decide to fly spur of the moment after work, let them know with a single tap where you are flying in real-time
When a MultiGP event is created, a url is generated that directs the user right to their account to register for the race, and get their frequency.
You have 3 choices:
1) No - frequencies will not be assigned in advance, and if the user taps the "frequency" link, he will see a pop up that sya "you will receive your frequency at the field"
2) Manual - the event creator can return to the Event details page, and tap "frequency" link, where he will have the ability to choose frequencies from a drop-down menu for each pilot that has accepted his invitation.
3) Auto-assign - we will randomly assign each pilot who accepts your invitation a frequency from the 5 or 6 channel template selected by the Event creator. If this option is chosen, then when the event begins the Event creator will have the option to "Re-shuffle" the frequencies in one of two ways to minimize sharing of frequencies. The first way is to remove frequencies from pilots who canceled, the second is to remove frequencies from any pilot not on site when the button is pushed (obviously this will require the pilots to have thier "Location" service on to identifyt hat they are present. You can ask them to turn it on for this purpose, and then remove it after channels are re-assigned.)

If you know of any cool places to fly. And would like to share them with the community, or just a couple of your friends, you can create a personalized site that will only be visible to those you identify when creating the site. Visit the FlySite page and tap on the blue "+" button on the bottom right corner of the map. Enter a name and description for your custom site. You then have 3 choices for visibility of your personal site by other members. If you choose "Public," then all memebrs of the app will be able to see this marker on their respective maps if they pan through it's geography. If you choose "Private" and then choose "All Friends," then your personal site will be visible to all of your friends on the app if they pan by the geographical area. If you choose "Private'" and then chose certain friends, then omly those friends will be able to see that markler on their maps when they pan through that geography. If you selelct "All friends," then if you add new friends to your account, they will automatically be added to the list of memebrs who can see the marker. If you choose certein friends, then you can return at any time and edit the list to add friends.
Both. If you have the media in your phone's gallery, you can post it directly from there on to our app when you tap the photo or video icons when creating a post. If you do not have the media in your phone's gallery (with iPhone, this may be very difficult to accomplish as they do not allow media to be uploaded directly to your gallery), the you can go to our website DroneNation.net to upload all of your media. At the top of our webpage, click on "Log In." You will be p[rompted to enter your credentials from your app account. Once you are inside, choose "Create a post with photos/video." You will now have the ability to upload as many photos and videos as you would like to your timeline, and can add any text, just like a post you would create on the app. The only difference is that once it is submitted, you will not be able to view the completed post with media on the website, so you will need to open up your app to see your post. We plan to add full app functionality to our website, so in the future you will be able to view your poat there as well.

A Copilot is what we call a friend who you may chose to fly with
A Teacher is another member who has identified themselves as an "Intermedite" level or above Expertise in an area, and wants to help other members with that area.
A Student is another member that would like to learn from another member about one or more topics
When a Student acknowledges that a teaching session has been completed, they are requested to confirm this and to provide a rating for the experience.
The "L" stands for Level, and the * stands for the user's 5 * rating that represents an average of all of the ratings provided by other members who have been taught by that user.
Ratings are based on an average of all ratings provided by Students aftrer they have had their first session with a Teacher. Levels are an internal calculation which reflects both the number of times a Teacher has successfully taught a Student, and the ratings they received when doing so.
Standings are based on the total number of props earned by the user over some unit of time. Since users can give away or redeem props for different reasons, we do not tabulate those transactions in their ranking.
Props are a token which is received in the app as a reward for certain behaviors. These behaviors include, but are not limited to, successfully teaching another member and recieveing a high rating.
Props have a number of uses. First, since they reflect a user's efforts to help other users through both amount and quality of help, we have a ranking section where we display the user's achievements against others in their communiy. From time to time, we also provide rewards to users based on where they fall within those rankings. Another use for props is to donate them to other members as a thanks for those members taking their time to teach the user. A third use for props is to redeem them for swag. There will be other uses in the future, so stay tuned.
